Today we celebrated the 33 year career of Lieutenant Scott Lewis. Lt. Lewis was hired by the Springdale Police Department in December of 1989 assigned as a Patrol Officer until 1994 when he became the Public Information Officer. Officer Lewis was then promoted in 1995 to rank of Sergeant supervising the patrol division then the Investigation Division. In 2002, then Sgt. Lewis was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he was assigned to the Patrol, Internal Affairs, CID, and Public Relations divisions throughout his career.
As long time colleague and friend, Sgt Sanchez stated, Lt. Lewis left his thumbprint on a lot in how the Springdale Police Department operates. Lt. Lewis was head firearms instructor for 5 years, NRA certified instructor for patrol rifles, pistols, and shotguns; becoming the first patrol rifle instructor and head firearms instructor for SPD. Lt. Lewis was also one of the first trained officers as a School Resource Officer and a founding member of the SWAT team where he served for 12 years.
Lt. Lewis was able to pass down his badge number to his son in law Sgt. Trevor Bowen who will proudly wear 117.
Thank you for your service not only to the community Lt. Lewis but to the Springdale Police Department. Enjoy your next chapter sir.

Day 2 of JPA we headed north to tour the Benton County Sheriff's Office. Some may not realize but Springdale is in two separate counties and we work with both Washington and Benton county sheriff's departments at various times. Lunch at Cici's Pizza was provided by Rhoads & Armstrong Law Firm; Thank you!!! We finished the day applying tourniquets and what to do if found in an active assailant incident. Looking forward to a fun filled day three where we will see who becomes top shot!

Had a great first day of the second session of Junior Police Academy. Students learned the history of the Police Department, laws, and what the process of becoming an Officer looks like. After lunch from Casa Alejo, we toured the Police Department. Chief Gamble and Assistant Chief Hudson spoke to the students. A drone demonstration and the physical fitness test ended day 1.

We are a day late and for some, a dollar short. We need help identifying these subjects. If you know who they are please contact the Springdale Police Department at 479-751-4542, CID 479-750-8139, or call/text our tipline at 479-317-0158. All help is appreciated.

Save The Date! Tuesday August 1st the Springdale Police Department will be participating in the National Night Out campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer and a better place to live. Hope to see you there!

Thank you to all the kids and "kids" that came and kick'd it with us! We had a blast today. Kickball, popsicles, music and a lot of sweat and laughs all around. Let's do it again soon

Today we celebrated the retirement of two long time employees. Javier Lopez has been a jailer/Building Security Officer with the Springdale Police Department since February 2002. Javier trained many Jailers whom became officers; some still with the department and he will be a major loss for those of us here and within the community.
Corporal Mike Hignite began his career with the Springdale Police Department in July of 1995 or as we would say the late 1900s. Cpl Hignite has been a fitness instructor, Bike Patrol Officer and helped hire and train 71 Officers from 2011-2015. Cpl Hignite, a Springdale Bulldog through and through is well known in the community for his assignment as a School Resource Officer. Cpl Hignite helped build what is now the Law Academy at SHS and taught Criminal Justice Classes the first 9 years of the program. The last 6 years of Cpl Hignite's career has been serving students and staff at JO Kelly Middle School and Childer's Knapp Elementary where he will deeply be missed.
We wish both of you the best in your next chapters and greatly appreciate your service to the Springdale Community.

Think driving yourself home after drinking is cheaper? Think again!
Average rideshare 💰? $25

The choice is simple — if you’ve been drinking, call a sober friend 🚗, rideshare 🚘, or taxi 🚖 to get you home safely. #BuzzedDriving is drunk driving.

As we approach the 4th of July and fireworks are being purchased and discharged; we would like to visit the ordinance before we become unintended guests to your family display. Have a happy and safe 4th.
