A Message from Mayor Doug Sprouse - "Today, as we remember the tremendous bravery, heroism, and sacrifice that we all witnessed 22 years ago, we honor those who ran to danger, knowing the risk, in order to save the lives of their neighbors. Let us also remember those who have given their lives and limbs since, and the sacrifices they’ve made both here and abroad to keep us safe, and to preserve this great Nation. For those of us who watched what happened that day, it seems like just yesterday. Yet, there is a great portion of our country who were too either young to remember, or weren’t even born yet. That’s why it is important that we “Never Forget”. Our children and grandchildren must be taught to know the cost of freedom. The world is every bit as dangerous today as it was then. Evil has not ceased. As we remember, let us renew our commitment to support those who stand in the gap between oppression and the liberty we so easily take for granted. Many of you recall the demonstration of great unity and patriotism we all experienced in the months following the events of Sept. 11th, 2001. Today, with such division in our country, may we use this occasion to unite around those tenants that make America great. Also, to remember that regardless of the particular challenges of our individual circumstance, we are all blessed to be Americans. Please join me as we pray for God’s continued protection and blessing on our nation, and His guidance and wisdom as we deal with one another in love and respect. May God Bless America."
