Officers wear many hats throughout the day; but one Springdale Officers rarely get to put on is "horse whisperer". Officer Cox got the opportunity to put on the hat and bring this horse back to it's stable. Great work Officer Cox.

Today, SPD Officer Chris Moist and Court Officer Jerry Tedford (SPD Retired) were awarded Co-Officers of the Year by the Arkansas Court Officers Association (ACOA). They received multiple nominations for this award. Officer Moist has been with Springdale PD for 21 years and is currently assigned as the Bailiff for the Springdale District Court. In addition to his duties as Bailiff, Officer Moist developed a streamlined process which cleared a backlog of arrest warrants, allowing the court to operate more efficiently. The nominations for Officer Moist described him as having a calming presence in the courtroom, helping everyone in the courtroom get through what can be a stressful experience. Officer Tedford retired from Springdale PD as a Sergeant after serving for more than 20 years. Not ready to fully retire after he left SPD, Officer Tedford later began working for the Springdale District Court. This year marks his 20th year working for the Springdale District Court. Officer Tedford's nominations described him as dedicated and safety conscious and able to step in and de-escalate most situations. His nominations also described past incidents where Officer Tedford intervened with armed and violent subjects, keeping everyone in the courtroom safe. Both Officer Moist and Officer Tedford play a vital role with safety and administrative tasks to keep the Springdale District Court operating safely, smoothly and efficiently. Join us in congratulating them on their well deserved award!!!

As the roads become slick; if you have to get out please drive slow and give yourself plenty of time. Maintain a safe distance between you and the car in front of you. Use your signals earlier than normal to give others ample warning. Please give us and other emergency workers plenty of room while working accidents or other traffic related issues. Stay warm and stay safe!

We hope you ring in the New Year in a fun and safe manner. Celebratory gunfire in the city limits is ILLEGAL and DANGEROUS which can lead to unintentional consequences. What goes up, must come down. Also fireworks are NOT allowed to be discharged in the city limits.

As you finalize your NYE plans make sure a sober driver is on top of the list. A friend, family member, or ride share should be designated to get you home. Our backseats are not comfortable and we only go to the big house. We want you all to have a fun but safe NYE celebration.
