After an incredible and impactful career, we honor the retirement of Corporal Thomas "Tommy" Wooten, who has dedicated over two decades to serving and protecting the community.
Raised in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Corporal Wooten enlisted in the U.S. Navy after high school. He served aboard the USS Mount Whitney and earned the rank of Hull Maintenance Technician, Petty Officer 3rd Class before being honorably discharged in 1997. He returned to Arkansas and began his law enforcement career in 1998 with the Gould Police Department and the Dumas Police Department. He then joined us at the Springdale Police Department in 2000.
Throughout his career, Cpl Wooten has made lasting contributions and left an enormous footprint in a variety of roles, including:
Patrolman, Bike Patrol, Field Training Officer (FTO), Highway Drug Interdiction Officer, Hostage Negotiator, Honor Guard, and Detective
School Resource Officer, where he founded a food pantry program at Har-Ber High School to support families in need, as well as a Gang Resistance Education and Training Instructor (GREAT)
Internet Crimes Against Children Investigator, where his work led to the successful prosecution of numerous offenders and protecting the most vulnerable.
Lead Instructor for the Springdale Police Summer Youth Academy, positively impacting youth in the community.
Cpl Wooten’s tireless efforts to improve community safety, protect children, and uplift those in need have left a lasting mark on our department and the community he served.
Outside of his career, Cpl Wooten is a proud husband to Brandie, father to four children, and grandfather to three beautiful granddaughters. His legacy of service will continue to inspire all of us.
