Each October, Springdale Fire Department visits every elementary school in the city to share fire safety information with students. Additionally, students are encouraged to create a fire escape plan for their home to submit for a contest. The escape plans are then judged by the school staff and a winner is selected from each school. The prize is a tour of a fire station, then a ride to school in a fire engine. On arrival at the school, they are met by their classmates and school staff. Here are a few winners from Knapp, Walker, Jones, Young, Tyson, Westwood, and Bayyari Elementary Schools. Congratulations to all of the winners!
Help us congratulate Springdale's newest firefighters on their graduation from the NWA Fire Training Academy! These 3 recruits have completed an intensive and challenging 10 week training program to prepare them to serve the community and the citizens of Springdale. The recruits will spend an additional 2 weeks with our Training Division, prior to being assigned to their respective shifts and stations. Congratulations on your achievement and welcome to the Springdale Fire Department! Left to right: (Probationary Firefighters Dalton Johnson, Patrick Michaels, and Christopher Priest). We also had our very own Assistant Chief Michael Bronner deliver the keynote address to the recruit class.
This afternoon, crews responded to Ranch Drive for grass fire that had spread to a detached garage. Units were able to control the fire before it extended into nearby homes.
This is a very busy time of year with a lot of public relation events happening. Yesterday, crews had the chance to participate in two trunk or treats. The first was held at Arvest Ball Park for the NWA Trauma Regional Advisory Council, and the second was held in downtown Springdale for the Police Department and Parks and Recreation. Lots of really good costumes and lots of fun!
🚨 Important Reminder! 🚨
Due to the continued extreme dry conditions, we want to remind everyone Washington and Benton Counties are under a Burn Ban. Currently, 56 counties in Arkansas are under Burn Bans.
Let’s all do our part to stay safe and keep our communities protected.
Around 1pm today, units responded to 1945 Butterfield Coach Rd. to a car fire threatening the gas pumps. E5 was able to make a quick stop on the fire and prevent it from spreading to the nearby structures. All units have returned to service.
Three of our shift commanders (B-Platoon Tom Pearson, C-Platoon Steve Lewis, and C- Platoon Clyde Clemons) attended a week-long Battalion Chief Bootcamp held in Pensacola, Florida. The training consisted of fire ground leadership through command presence. Excellent job, Gentleman.
Early Tuesday morning SFD responded to Fayetteville to assist with a large structure fire off Hwy 112. Engine 2, Battalion 2, and Ladder 6 worked with Fayetteville units to help extinguish the fire.
Fire Prevention Month is upon us, and crews including, our Fire Chief, have been visiting our elementary schools across Springdale to deliver fire safety messages to young kids. This year's theme is "Smoke alarms, make them work for you". With the changing of the clocks soon approaching, now is a fantastic time to go ahead and change those batteries!
This evening, units responded to a vehicle fire threatening a structure. E2 arrived on scene of a heavily involved vehicle next a wall of the South Pleasant Street Walmart. A quick extinguishment by personnel prevented spread to the building. No injuries reported, all units have returned to service.
We would like to provide a reminder that our area is under a burn ban and conditions are extremely dry. Monday afternoon our crews, along with help from Fayetteville, Tontitown, Cave Springs, Lowell, Johnson Fire Departments, and Arkansas Forestry, assisted with a large grass/brush fire that originated on the shoulder of I-49 and spread westerly toward N. 48th Street. The fire burned a barn and endangered several homes, but fortunately crews were able to successfully protect them. Thank you to our neighbors for the assistance.
We were fortunate on Monday, when the rain held off in order to host our 5th annual Fairways Fore Firefighters Golf Tournament. This event helps to fund the SFD benevolent college fund, as well as our Christmas toy drive. 102 friends participated in this year's tournament, which was held at Springdale Country Club. We would like to give a special thank you to our chief sponsor, Milestone Construction Company, which has been our cheif sponsor for our previous four tournaments. We would also like to thank Chambers Bank for the Assistant Chief sponsor. And we appreciate Signature Bank for gifting us with grilling for all golfers! We couldn't do this without our community support!
Yesterday afternoon around 4pm, SFD units responded to a commercial structure fire. Crews arrived on scene and discovered a trash compactor on fire within the building. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the single unit. #springdalefire
As we enter the fall season, the Fire Department is often invited to participate in public events. Saturday, Engine 1 helped the Springdale Public Schools Education Foundation with their annual Duck Race. This was a record setting activity, as there were 5,302 ducks that made their way down Spring Creek toward the finish line!

Have you checked out the IDRIVE Arkansas app? It's your source of traveler information for Arkansas highways, as well as a free download from the App Store. The app also includes links to highway cameras, with live roadway information. For instance, yesterday, it showed our crews battling a car fire on Interstate 49.
Over the past two days, 14 firefighters completed promotional testing for the position of Driver/Operator.
This rigorous process -which is only offered every two years- not only tests their technical skills, but also their commitment to excellence and leadership in high-pressure situations. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication to take on this challenge.
Thank you to everyone who supported them along the way, and to all of our firefighters for their daily commitment to keeping us safe.
