About Your Government

Mission Statement

The mission of the City of Springdale is to provide quality services for the betterment of the health, safety, welfare, prosperity, comfort, and convenience of all persons in the City of Springdale, Arkansas.

Overview

The City of Springdale is a city of the first class and is organized as a Mayor/Council form of government. This form closely parallels federal, state, and county government with an elected legislature and a separately elected chief executive. All City elections are nonpartisan.

Mayor

The Mayor serves a four-year term with no term limit. The elected Mayor is designated as the head of the City government and is responsible for implementing policy formulated by the Council and managing City operations. The Mayor is also an ex-officio member of the City Council, and can bring items forward for a vote at City Council. He or she can also vote at City Council meetings, in some cases. The Mayor can vote when there is a tie, he or she can be the fifth vote to pass a resolution or ordinance, and he or she can become a voting member of the Council in order to establish a quorum.
