The City of Springdale has had an increased number of applicants interested in joining the Springdale Police Department this year. The SPD received 82 applications for police officer openings, up from 48 at this time last year. Of the applications this year, 39 passed the civil service testing, which includes a physical agility test, a written test and an interview with the Civil Service Commission.
"We are excited to have this number and quality of applicants," said Springdale Police Chief Mike Peters. "We are confident that we will be able to add some very good police officers to the SPD family."
Becoming a police officer with the Springdale Police Department is a lengthy process, and only the top candidates are chosen. Candidates will be interviewed multiple times and must pass a background test, drug screen, psychological screen and a polygraph. They will also receive a medical screen that includes vision and hearing testing. A candidate can become disqualified at any point in this process.
