The City of Springdale will hold an information session 5:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in the City Council Chambers, located at 201 Spring St. for parents and guardians, students, educators, and other interested parties who would like to learn more about the Springdale Youth Council program. During this information session, we will go over the application and program requirements, time commitment, and program details. This will be a formal presentation with opportunities for questions and comments from attendees. The presentation will start at 5:30 p.m.
The City will begin accepting applications for the Youth Council Class of 2019 on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. The Youth Council Class of 2018 will graduate from the program on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 immediately following the City Council Meeting, which starts at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
The Springdale Youth Council was established to encourage young people to become engaged with their local government, receive mentoring from City officials, perform community service for the benefit of Springdale residents, advise local government officials on the issues that face young people in our community, and learn about local government and the importance of civic participation.
The program guide and bylaws can be found on our website at www.SpringdaleAR.gov/YouthCouncil. The application will be available online beginning May 1, 2018. The application deadline is Aug. 1, 2018.
