Original Release - Dec. 14, 2017

The City of Springdale has given Mercy Health Northwest's contractors a notice to proceed for improvements to N. 48th Street and Elm Springs Road. Certain improvements to N. 48th Street and Elm Springs Road are needed to alleviate traffic congestion as the area is developed. The improvements to be undertaken will be completed in conjunction with the development of Mercy's facility at this location.

City Council voted Nov. 14, 2017 to authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the Development Agreement with Mercy for improvements to N. 48th Street and Elm Springs Road. The City is sharing the costs for the improvements with Mercy, and the City has committed to contributing no more than $172,336.87 from Capital Improvement Funds to go toward this project.

Improvements include restriping, moving the traffic signal, adding two lanes on N. 48th Street, and expanding the right turn lane on Elm Springs Road to allow for more storage for vehicles preparing to travel south on I-49.

The contract for this work is through Mercy. For more information about this project, please contact Daniel Ellis with Crafton Tull at 479-636-4838.

The public and the media will be informed of any road or lane closures related to this project.
