W. Emma Ave. Improvement Project Update

Update - Jan. 17, 2018

Emma Ave. from Blair St. to Shiloh St. will be closed from Thursday, Jan. 18 until Sunday, Jan. 21 at 5 p.m. so contractors can apply sealant to the crosswalks.

Update - Jan. 9, 2018

Below-freezing temperatures have caused a slight delay in the schedule. However, the contractor will be striping Emma Avenue from Shiloh St. to Blair St. this Wednesday, Jan. 10. They will not have to fully close the road to do so. They will use flaggers as needed. Please use caution when driving through the area. 

Update - Dec. 12, 2017

W. Emma Ave. from Blair to Shiloh will be open Dec. 12 and then closed again on Dec. 13. Full surface paving will occur on Wednesday, Dec. 13 due to the warmer weather predicted for that day. Contractors will be working on the road overlay from the Blair intersection through the Shiloh intersection. The road will only be closed during the day and will reopen in the evening.

Remaining work on this project will be the south sidewalks and landscaping. Striping will be done last and will require a full closure for one day.

Contractors estimate the work will be fully completed by the first week of January 2018.

Update - Nov. 29, 2017

Blair to Shiloh section of Emma Avenue will remain closed the remainder of the week, will reopen over the weekend and then close again on Monday, December 4 for the surface course paving.

Update - Nov. 27, 2017

Emma Ave. from Blair St. to Shiloh St. will be closed on Monday, 11/27 and Tuesday, 11/28 in order to fix the sewer service west of the intersection of Emma Ave. and Blair St. (just west of the new crosswalk). Additionally, Emma Ave. will close again on Monday, 12/4 so the contractor can to do the surface course paving.

Update - Nov. 21, 2017

In preparation of the final paving and reopening of Emma in front of the Apollo Theater, and the parade this upcoming weekend, SWU will be excavating and replacing a leaking valve located in the intersection of Emma Ave. and Main St. They will have personnel and heavy equipment in the intersection to accomplish the task. They will begin cutting the asphalt and excavating on Tuesday Nov. 21, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. Crews will return at 5 a.m. on Wednesday Nov. 22, 2017 to reduce the water pressure and replace the valve. Water should be restored to affected areas by 8 a.m. Flag persons will be directing motorist in the work zone. Motorist should expect small delays.

Update - Oct. 31, 2017

The W. Emma Ave. closure from Blair St. to Shiloh St. will be extended to Wednesday, Nov. 22, weather permitting, so crews can perform road improvements.

The road will be open in time for the Christmas on the Creek celebration scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 25.

There will be a brief closure in December so crews can complete the remainder of the asphalt and striping work.

Aug. 22, 2017

W. Emma Ave. from Blair St. to Shiloh St. will be closed until Tuesday, October 31, weather permitting, so crews can improve the street and service lines. This is a joint project between the City of Springdale and the Springdale Water Utilities that will include running new service lines to the businesses in that area, lining the main sewer line, and improving the streetscape. The streetscape work will include drainage improvements, moving the utilities underground, and improving walkability and parking. The City of Springdale will reimburse Springdale Water Utilities for the cost of the streetscape improvements.

The Blair St. and Shiloh St. intersections will remain open for the majority of this closure; however, the intersections may be closed for short periods of time for paving.
