City of Springdale is currently accepting applications for Youth Council

Springdale Youth Council

The City of Springdale is currently accepting applications for the 2017-2018 Youth Council class. The program is free and open to students in grades 10-12 who live in the Springdale School District. This includes public school, private school, and homeschooled students. The application deadline for the 2017-2018 class is Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017.

The Springdale Youth Council was established to encourage young people to become engaged with their local government, receive mentoring from City officials, perform community service for the benefit of Springdale residents, advise local government officials on the issues that face young people in our community, and learn about local government and the importance of civic participation.

The students will meet at least once a month from 5-8 p.m. to learn about local government. Over the course of the eight-month program, the students will receive mentoring from local elected officials, hold an event to engage young people, perform community service, present an issue to City Council with potential solutions, and shadow a government office.

If you have any questions about this program, please email Communications@SpringdaleAR.gov or call the Mayor’s Office at 750-8114.

The application, program guide, and bylaws can be found on our website at www.SpringdaleAR.gov/YouthCouncil.
