Mayor Sprouse signs contract bringing Cal Ripken Tournament to Springdale

This morning, Mayor Doug Sprouse signed a contract to bring Cal Ripken Southwest Regional 12-year old Major/60 Baseball Tournament to Springdale July 12-15.

Local Cal Ripken baseball district commissioner, Larry Clinkscales; assistant Southwest Regional commissioner for Cal Ripken baseball, Rob Featherston; and Arkansas state commissioner umpire consultant and former Cal Ripken World Series umpire Ken Pennington joined the Mayor and Springdale Parks and Recreation's Bill Mock and Chris Gwin at the signing.

Cal Ripken Baseball is a division of Babe Ruth League, Inc. The Major/60 12-year old division of Cal Ripken Baseball features a 46' pitching distance and 60' base paths. Special base running rules are also in effect. This division is offered as an option to the major division format, and includes a tournament trail from District competition through the World Series.

Teams from Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas will compete in the Southwest Regional Tournament to be held in Springdale.
