The Springdale City Council will vote on the draft of the form-based code at their regularly scheduled City Council Meeting at 6 p.m. on March 28 at 201 Spring St.
The form-based code is intended to replace the current development code for buildings located in Downtown Springdale. This includes all homes, businesses, and municipal buildings located between Huntsville and Caudle avenues (north and south), and 71B and Highway 265 (east and west).
The code will not impact current structures, but all new developments or changes to existing property will have to comply with the new code. This code divides downtown into distinct districts and it is intended to give businesses, homeowners, and developers more flexibility in design while allowing for greater housing density downtown where necessary.
